Building walls or bridges

Reviewing past talks and addresses, we speak a lot about “the Lord”:

  • What do we mean by “the Lord”?
  • When we talk about inviting the Lord into our lives, what do we mean?
  • And, what does that look like?

THE LORD IS LOVE

“The essence of love is not to love self, but to love others and through love to be conjoined with them.” (Divine Love & Wisdom 47)

THE LORD IS ORDER

“The Lord is order itself, and therefore wherever He is present order exists, and wherever order exists He is present.” (Secrets of Heaven, 5703.2)

THAT ORDER IS WRAPPED UP IN THE ESSENCE OF GOD WHICH IS LOVE

“Our proper code of life is to love one another as we love ourselves, but what we actually do these days is to love ourselves more than others and thus hate everyone else.” (Secrets of Heaven, 637.2)

ON THE WAY TO EMMAUS …

Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. … He was known to them in the breaking of bread. (Luke 24:30, 31, 35)

“… the breaking of bread was a sign that meant mutual love.” (Secrets of Heaven, 5405.2)

So what DOES it look like to LIVE FROM THE LORD? Perhaps we all have our answers … but for me …

COMMUNITY – works when I am committed to you, and you are committed to me:

  • But is that all? No. It has to be about something bigger than us. A greater purpose that transcends the sum of the individuals in the room.
  • Our greater purpose – whatever that is – is our god. But is it the Divine?
  • That depends upon how well we reflect the Divine essence and purpose.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34,35)

But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. (Hebrews 13:16)

“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’“ (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭40‬)

Something I quoted last week:

“It is a person who, in rejecting good, condemns himself. As a person has fled habitually from good during his lifetime, so in the next life he flees from it, and therefore from heaven and the Lord.” (Secrets of Heaven, 2335.3)
